Napoleonic Era ... (Including Revolutionary War in America)

If you don't focus on a specific time period, or subject matter, you become a "jack of all trades, master of none."

(Most people never master even a single subject. So, narrowing it down at least gives you a chance at being a useful historian.)

My thesis was particularly directed..... It was outside of my chosen timeframe, but within my specialty of Military History.

"The re-emergence of loose order combat (and its ramifications for society) between the US Civil War and the Spanish-American War."

The main criticism of my thesis was that it was "Too Broad in Scope". :)

My specialty in college was (and still is) Modern Europe. I still like European history beginning with Early Modern Europe but I like the parts between the Enlightenment and the Cold War.

I also like Early Papal history as well as Jewish and Christian history.

EDIT: Why? Because I love history and Europe is full of castles, museums, architecture, culture, literature, and much more! It was the very epicenter of Western Civilization during its development.

As far as Christian, Papal, and Jewish history is concerned, I enjoy learning about them because I am a Christian and my Christian faith has ties to the Judaic faith through the Old Testament. I like papal history because it ties in to European history and it's interesting, too.

pre-war britain, victorian/edwardian society and changing class issues after the industrial revolution. Ive been working on a theory comparing England and Japan historically as island empires (types of feudalism, occupation of India and China respectively, effects of population density in a small land mass on culture, isolationism etc.)
