I believe it is the minerals in the egg shells that are beneficial to plants. There is calcium in egg shells which is something tomatoes need.

I'm sorry, but I thought you were talking about adding egg shell to the soil of your PANTS. I was trying to figure out why that would help...

But yeah, I'm pretty sure it helps plants.

yes that is true. my mom also usto all coffee grounds and potato peelings. she said that the nutrients are adsorbed into the dirt
