How I understand it is:
The children decided to name the teddy Mohammed and everything was fine.
Then another teacher who was jealous of her or something reported her to the authorities who were obliged to make a big deal out of it because the other teacher claimed that she found it insulting.
The kids, all their parents and the classroom assistant were all quite happy with what the teddy was called.
It all comes down to "office politics" for want of a better word, and people who try to be mean towards their colleagues should take it as an example of how things can go much further than anyone would have liked it to.
Under their laws she had commited an offence, but it was an offence that many people ignore. When it was pointed out, something had to be seen to be done.

It has been said (by the BBC) that the complaint was made by one of the female support staff at the school; not a parent or teacher.
This suggests that it was a vexatious (malicious) prosecution. Probably it was to settle a percieved 'sleight'.

Once a formal complaint had been made the authorities would have felt obliged to take action.

This theory is the most plausible of the ones which I have heard. It suggests that someone at the school was bitchy to the point of being evil themselves.

Once the wretched process had started it then took on a life of its own and the "rent a mob" gang turned out to try and stir up anti-western emotion.

Of course the president let her go with only a couple of days of her sentence left. It makes him look like a "humanitarian", but really he's just a politician like every other one....

Surely Islam is robust enough not to be 'insulted' by something like this?
The other major religions don't have to rely on fear and brutality in order to keep their followers and defend themselves. The RC church learned that lesson and gave up crusading and the Inquistion's torturing of apostates centuries ago and is still strong.

A PERSON IN THE SCHOOL REPORTED HER TO THE THOUGHT POLICE.I would severely reprimand the person who did this. for wasting the time of all concerned, over a simple mistake by innocent children, wanting to give a noble, and worthy name, to something they loved.The secretary or clerk who reported the teacher, should be sacked for trying to stir race hatred,they certainly cannot be trusted in the school .It is people like this who start wars with millions dead,over an episode that any normal parent would laugh about and instruct the children accordingly.

Its politics - so that brit muslims can be seen to rescue her and improve the image of muslims in Britain which sadly needs doing real bad.

That is not meant as an insult but many British Muslims are now treated almost as badly as poor native whites because of the activities of a few nut cases.

Because Muslims are retarded, then again all religion is equally as stupid, but Muslims especially. They expect the entire world to know the laws of their country and their religion automatically and they expect foreigners to know as much as someone who has grown up over there. they don't see the stupidity in this because no other religion in the world is as F**KED UP as theirs.

If on the other hand Christians had a religious law that said they must hang anyone who does not greet them by standing one foot and squawk like a donkey, I am sure that then any Muslims that come to the USA would be equally pissed off at us as I am at them.

Its just so stupid, you can't draw Muhammad, you can't label a teddy bear Muhammad, can you speak of him or is that also bad, maybe that should be their next law... that way after one generation we would no longer have to worry about this severely retarded religion.

As a white, educated, divorce female that has left two GROWN UP children at home.She is everything Muslims detest in our western culture.
