When you give a woman a gift, is it because you want to show her that you love her or is it because you want to get something from her? When a guy gives me a present, I always feel like he is trying to manipulate me or "buy me" (even though I never let him know I feel this way). What are your honest opinions on gift giving?

for as simple as women would like to think we men are... we really aren't.
as such.. this isn't a simple answer... but here we go..
it's situational and depends on the relationship. some times it will be because they just felt like it.. sometimes because it reminded them of you.. sometimes because they think it will get them a little something later.. or maybe even all of these (and much more) at the same time! some guys may lean more towards one end of the spectrum than the other (either way) and there's really no way for me to be able to sit here and tell you what guys from your past have meant.

Rather than talking about mens' intentions (which Pip answered quite well), I would suggest considering your own issues. Any time I "always feel" something -- even under different circumstances -- the feeling could suggest that I have some unresolved issues I need to address.
Don't look to the men in your life. Look to gain clarity about yourself. (And please, please consider working on your willingness to "never let him know I feel this way." That stance alone can cause you a great deal of grief in future relationships.)

well, honest guys like me would gift her because of the same reason why we give others gifts-to express our love or friendship. a man is a king his girlfriend is his queen, whom he would die to serve and, in my case, i would give her a gift because she would be the most precious thing to me in the whole world. i want to see her happy in any possible way.

depend on how you feel about the guy and if you think he i decent enough to buy it for his feelings not to get something out of you.

i agree with pip, but i think your being a bit paranoid. yes guys give so they can recive but it isnt always the case. i guess it depends on the guy.
