No and yes. Boogie man is an imaginary monster. The boogeyman comes in quite a number of forms, mostly anything frightening or repulsive will do. The monster is usually said to live under a child's bed or in the closet and to appear at night. He is often dressed in black and may carry a sack or basket with which to kidnap children. Some cultures believe in a female, witch-like equivalent of the boogeyman. In my culture it is a blood sucking old woman, who usually appears as a ball of fire call the "Old Higue." She leaves black and blue marks on your skin where she has already sucked your blood. Hey, remember it is just imaginary or made up by parents or older sublings to scare or punish you.

I think that everyone has their own personal "boogie man". After all, we all have a dark side to say the least.

Akinwale Arobieke he was well known as a "bogeyman".
Here's a picture of him:

Some people believe that the "candyman" that Clive Barker wrote about in the movies is actually based on a real person. His name is Akinwale Arobieke and he is also known as Purple Aki. While he doesn't show up after you chant his name five times in front of a mirror, for a long time people thought he was an urban legend.

Purple Aki has served time in prison for multiple accounts of harassment and even scared one witness so much that they entered the witness protection program because of his threats.

While Clive Barker has not said that he based Candyman on Akinwale Arobieke, it does make sense. This happened in Liverpool and Barker is originally from Liverpool. Plus, Akinwale Arobieke does look alot like Candyman.

no, but there are this one kind of creature my mother used to scare me with when i was little. it had long, elf like ears with red eyes. long hairy, white fur, like a yeti. butreally skinny and gaunt. it was totally pigeon toed, its feet were ponted directly towards eachother. like this: ---><--- and it wears overalls or sumthing like that. i would get totally freaked out, and she said if i said my prayers and listened to my elders they wouldnt come for me. haha now i scare my little sister with tht same story =D
