lot of talk in dallas about smith taking over for turco, anyone else with the same situation for their team? or is there a no.2 that you feel deserves to be no.1?

Usually they are #2 for a reason but as you say, some #2 goalies are outperforming the starters. As you said Smith, an argument can be made for Garon in Edmonton as well. Osgood is a prome example. An argument can even be made for Sabourin. Some think Carey Price is the better goalie NOW, I don't know if I am one of them. We are not quite sure who the starter is in Ottawa.
If I HAD to pick a couple of guys who should be their team's starters (or atleast called such) I would say Osgood and Garon.

Sorry to parrot Bob, but Osgood and Garon are the ones right now. Gerber would have been included until 4 games ago, now he's left the door open for Emery to claim the #1 job back. Toskala and Raycroft in Toronto have both started before for other teams, and are going back and forth, with Toskala getting a slight edge.

I don't think either Avs goalie could replace DiPietro on the Islanders either. And Budaj over Lundqvist? Wake up Heisman, you're dreaming.

Osgood - not just now, but he never should have been traded away in 2001. He's the #3 goalie of the last 30 years and still in his prime. Hasek is #2, so you can't knock the Wings for playing him, but Osgood has been constantly underrated. He'll never see the Hall of Fame unless he pays the admission charge, but he's been consistently good for more years than most guys have careers.

To Heisman: You can add another 28 teams to Ottawa and New Jersey.

Ottawa is in a tough situation with Gerber, and Emery. Hasek is starting today against the best powerplay team in Montreal lets see how he does when hes tested. Not sure about the situation in Toronto but Toskala and Raycroft is a toss up to me.

Budaj and Theodore can start for every team but Ottawa and New Jersey? I'm too old to laugh this hard.

Vancouver, Calgary, Detroit, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Chicago, Anaheim, Montreal, Dallas, Atlanta, Carolina.......all come to mind without thinking. Hell, I'm not sure either Budaj or Theodore could be 3rd string in Detroit or Dallas.

They are good, but not that good

Chris Osgood deserves to be starting. Not only for the Red Wings but for the Western Conference All-Stars.

Good one , Kyle. ;p

It's tough to distinguish who's one and two in Colorado out of Budaj and Theodore, but whever they list as 2 on the depth chart could start anywhere but Ottowa and New Jersey
