i have three older sisters- they spread rumors amongst themselves about me and each other all the time- that's OK because i always get to find out at least some of the rumors-
i think the worst rumors are always in amongst family and in laws- because you always get to find out about some thing or another, i deal with it in a very diplomatic way if its about me or someone else- either I change the subject because i don't like gossip and don't have time to be taken a sin or i cut the person with words quickly so they will stop what they are saying and they don't have a reply back-
this is why I'm a good listener within my friends and family and they know im zero tolerance when it comes to these things. Clever people always feel the need to gossip, smart people stay away from rumors.
last week i had an appointment with my daughters teacher- i mentioned this to one of my sisters- within a few days it turned into an appointment with a doctor!

I've spread some myself just in case other people lack the courtesy to gossip behind my back and say ugly things about me.
I also make a point of being very vague and enigmatic when confronted with some vicious, filthy and hopefully disreputable
rumor about me. It keeps people guessing if you don't outright
deny it.
So in my sleepy home town some people are still totally convinced I was responsible for the ( never existing ) pregnancy of the lovely Caro. ( She and I spread that one in collaboration, news travels fast in a little town within 4 hours
of starting the rumor my mother wanted to ' talk to me '.
The rumors of me paying for the inhumanly forced abortion since no baby ever appeared were an added bonus.
Living in Amsterdam ( the city of sin ) I'm reputed to play long
Mahjongh sessions in smoky opium dens with people attached to the Chinese mafia ( My little brother spread that humdinger ).
I'm supposed to have cruelly strangled my Pet King Python
( partially true, it used to freely crawl trough my room, and I broke it's neck when I inadvertently turned on top of it in my
sleep ) People think it was a giant snake but King Pythons
don't grow much larger than a yard and a half.

I stabbed a guy 9 times and stole his porsch ......... my sisters spread all kinds of rumors about that one ......
they said I raped two girls at the childrens home because they were afraid of getting sued .. how the childrens home thought they were protecting themselves from a law suit by saying this I don't know ... one of the girls wrote me a note apologizing for saying it was a rape and said how she was runinng away .... so if I hadn't had a signed confession from her I would have probably went to jail for rape for a consentusal encounter that she started ,but for the childrens home to keep calling it a rape after having a signed confession to the contrary I should have sued them for that one ......
