I love books, coz my imagination is better than a 100 movies, but then again, i stopped reading a while back as i can't concentrate anymore and i loose my train of thoughts, so now i have to make do with watching movies and enjoying them with a big bucket of pop corn.
Wanna come see one with me.......

I prefer books. Mainly because I have such an intricate imagination. Books also have more detail and "scenes" than what can be fit into a movie. The only reason I would look at a movie before a book (and only a few minutes) would be to see what the characters look like so I can use them as a reference when I'm reading, for example....with the Harry Potter books. I would never be able to imagine HP looking any different than Daniel Radcliffe.

Books, because I get to be the director and make the movie the way I see it. I am never disappointed. Here are some examples of books I have read where the movie was okay, but not quite the same as the book
Corelli's Mandolin (book) - Captain Corelli's Mandolin (movie)
Les Miserables
Hearts in Atlantis
Treasure Island
The Green Mile
But then again, there are movies that are better than the book or short story that they were based on.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Minority Report
A Scanner Darkly

Books because I have a better imagination than any movie director may have (interpreting already written books).
I can carry the book with me, read it when I please and so I enjoy it much more.
Finally - I've many times considered books as friends and could never do this with a movie. I call (some books) friends because I read the over again... and so it's like visiting someone you already know. Just don't get the same feeling with a movie.

well that's a tough one... I probably prefer books because the author is controlling the story, the way they invision us the reader would get the most out of their tale. Your more apt to use your imagination and creativity when reading vs. seating in theater seat with a bunch of people. A movie is just bits and pieces that a director thinks the book is about and can often not do justice to the written page due to budget and time constraints.
Due to the holidays, I'm more apt to go to the movies vs reading. My favorite time of reading is in summer, at the beach. Or in winter when it's cold and dreary a good book and hot chocolate makes things cozy!

Books take me deeper into the characters and the story more than movies. The book is usually much better than the movie is.

Books. I like movies too, but I HATE it when they make books into movies because they always leave stuff out and it is NEVER as good as the book was.

Books, definately. You can get a whole lot more out of books than movies, 'cause movies sometimes leave out info that their books include!

Movies are based on Dollars spent. Books are based on feelings, no limitations.
Books win every time.
How many books have you read that are better movies?

Books. Mostly because in books the authors have to use explicit detail that is often left out of movies.
