Great question. It illustrates how ridiculous it is to try to categorize people.
As you move across the planet, people change very gradually.
Northern Europe has a lot of blonde, blue eyed people, but Southern Europeans look more like Arabs.
Northern Africans generally are Arabs, and look like Southern Europeans, but Southern Africans are dark skinned with curly hair.
East Indians, have dark skin like Southern Africans, but straight hair like Eastern Asians.
My point is that "race" is something invented by men who wanted an explanation for why we all look different.
But to me, it's nonsense.
We are all the same race.

I agree with Rick K.! We're all the human race! This question is almost impossible to answer because Russians are a good mix of everything. Because of how the coutnry stretches out to Asia and the Middle East, there's a good chunk of people that would have features that resemble Arabs or Asians. A lot of my Russian friends are mixed "Russian". Although I see Russians to be anyone that either came from Russia or considers themselves a citizen, I know a lot of people that would only consider white people to be true Russians. I myself am from the Caucases in Russia where most people have a Arab appearance. I don't know if I would consider myself Caucasian though...Some of those Caucasian people would consider themselves just Caucasian and some Russian. There is definitely no distinct set of features for a Russian person.

Indians aren't asian. Native Americans are Indians. Russians are considered Eastern European, not Asian.

Russia has a border. Some Russians are Asian as some of Russia is in the continent of Asia. Some are European. Depends where they live. Russia is vast. India is in Asia so people are referred to as Asians (in the UK. Eastern Asians are Oriental if we don't know which specific part of east Asia they are from)

According to genetics, Indians are a mix of two ancient populations of ANI (Ancestral North Indian) who are related more to Pakistanis, Afghans, and Iranians, thats why the languages are all similar and ASI (Ancestral South Indians) who are more related to Australoids and are sub branch of the Australoid race like the Australian Aborigines, its even scientifically proven that significant gene flow was happening between India and Australia, and that both Dravidians and Australian Aborigines groups descended from a common ancestor. When Africans first left Africa, they arrived in India first, thats why its been genetically proven that the people of the Andaman Islands are the only ancestral south Indians without any Ancestral North Indian blood in them. So theyre geographically Asian, like Arabs and Iranians, but not Mongoloid Asians

Actually the Asian continent is one solid mass that stretches to Europe which in ancient times was not known by that name. actually cauc-asians came from central Asia and then spread to what is so falsely known as the invented word called Europe

So many wrong answers on here. The one considered the "best" answer doesn t even address the question at hand. He s asking about their geographical ethnic background, not what they are labeled because of what they look like. To answer the questions simply, the majority of Russia is a part of the continent of Asia, therefore the majority of Russians are considered Asian. The minority of Russians (from the western parts of Russia) are considered European. The entire country of India is a part of Asia, so they are considered Asian. It would be just as if you were born in North America, no matter what your race is, you are considered North American. No matter what race you are, if you are born in South America, you are South American. Race is specifically what background the individual has, while ethnicity is based more so off of your geographical location.

No one has a simple & accurate answer??? All races of world would be categorized into three(3) main races , white, black, asian... Russia is most definitely white(euro) mixed with Asian as they fused/melted together over span of thousands of years, this did not happen over night or neather did Russians drop out of ski, same goes for the Turkish(turkey) people they are a mix of Persian mixing with Mongolians which in thousand years made what are people of turkey(mind you turks didn't exist during roman rule), as for people of india they are Asians mixed with black cause the black race migrated/moved east along the coasts(indian ocean) dropping & mixing of there dna to Australia producing aborigines.. the answers are all there... the secret is in learning history of world & you will know were we all came from.. I just do not like people in there ignorance giving such comments in a sure way.. the great population of people are like an endless ocean moving & mixing the races of the world bring about new cultures, foods, languages, ideas, etc...
