So I am going to apply to a community college for a four year degree in Phonotics Engineering. I meet all of the admission requirements except for having taken Grade 12 math. The college offers a course to take this prerequisite for the program if I apply so I have no trouble applying even though I am good at math and know Calculus. The problem is that there will be a lot of people applying for the program and I'm afraid of getting in since I didn't take Grade 12 math back in high school. Any advice?

First of all, I've never heard of a community college offering a 4-year degree. Are you sure this isn't just a 2-year degree in preparation for transfer to a 4-year program? And I assume it is Photonics Engineering that you are applying for - make sure you spell it correctly!

Secondly, what may happen is that you will get into the community college, but not the Photonics Engineering program initially. That just means that you would have to take the equivalent of 12th grade math before you would be allowed to take classes in that field. Since every program requires general education classes anyway, take those, and it won't hold you back for more than a semester.

Make your application as strong as possible. If your grades, essay, test scores and letters of reccomondation are all strong- you'll have a good chance even without the pre-requisite. Obviously, they exect to accept some students without this course- or else they wouldn't offer the course.
