The fuel pump is overheating and has to be changed. I bet once the vehicle sits for 20 mins. it fires right up!
That's cause the pump has cooled down.
I had a truck that did the same thing. Left on the road for dead a few times and when the mechanic looked at it the next day it was fine. I spent hundreds on coil, tune up, diagontics that it didn't need. One mechanic said my catalytics were plugged and suggested a whole new exhaust.
I had to pay a mechanic $100 to drive around with the diagnostic machine for an hour til it broke down.
My 94 Ram did not come with a fuel filter. They said it was in the fuel pump which was in the tank, but added one to the fuel line upon it's first break down.

The first two guys nailed it. It's a fuel filter issue. When they get plugged up, it restricts fuel flow. the jeep will run till all the fuel in the lines up to the fuel filter is gone. Then it takes a bit for the pump to be able to push fuel past that filter to fill the lines again.
Kinda like the way a clogged kitchen sink works... picture your gas tank as being the sink, and your motor trying to run on whatever the clog will let through.

It sounds to me like your fuel pump is going bad. Next time it does this spray some starting fluid in the throttle body and see if it fires. If it does change your fuel filter first, a dirty fuel filter will cause a fuel pump to heat up.
