I think there are several theorys about that.
1. Hitler considered himself a religious man and was carrying out Martin Luthers ideas that the jews should be punished for not accepting Jesus. Bear in mind that Luther himself tried and failed to sway the jews into accepting christianity and was a little pissed that they rejected him. So Hitler, a few hundred years later, decided to carry Luthers wishes out.
2. There were and are a few jewish families who controled the international banks which were and are a big part of the problems with national finances everywhere. Since he equated the Jews with the banks which held the German economy for ransum, he began the liquidation of the problem.
3. the best way to unite a country or a group of people is to provide a common target for their fear and hatered. See reason 2.
as you see I have heard three reasonable explainations so I doubt that you will ever actually find a reason that no one will argue about.

Many people dislike the Jews, and Hitler read a phony, faked dissertation about how they were the secret force behind the decline of German money and the depression.
Mostly just because he hated Jews.

Well, he did say that the Jewish people were 'laying in wait' for the German women to 'bastardize' his race. History also does not seem to remember the vast numbers of black Africans included in this 'cleansing' known as the holocoast. Here is an interesting question. "Why is it that the Jewish language seem to be of the Akan - From the West African group of languages?"
Another Question. "Why is it that Jewish, and biblical names of people, places and things are of the Akan. Even the cultures and sentences that escaped translation?
The answers are within. Truth has no regard for sentiments, does it? There is the mind that remembers and the flesh that carries the DNA I guess...

At the time Germany was suffering hideously high inflation and they wanted an easy target to blame. Mnay jews owned businesses and were an easy target as they were percieved as 'different' from most of the population.
