Can they dump Scott Hartnell? Will any team pay that kind of money for him? What is he getting paid, like 4.2 or 5.2 million? I can understand having a slow start, but this guy sometimes struggles skating.
What can they do to fix that left wing?

Wow, it so easy for you guys to get a bee in your bonnet. The guy gets like 15/16 minutes a game. For how much he gets paid, sucker should have at least 25 points by now, imo.

A LW problem so they should dump their best available LW? Seems like an odd notion. Gagne is out and that is what makes the position depleted. While Hartnell makes 5.2 this year, his cap hit is closer to 4 because the deal is front loaded. Yes, he has started off slowly but it looks as though he can be a 25-30 goal scorer for years to come and he is only 25 years old. When he is 30 years old and scoring 30 goals a season and getting paid 3.2 million, I think we will be talking about what a bargain he is.
Teams that show a commitment to winning will front load these deals to get a leg up on the competition. Really the same can be said about Briere who is amking 10 million this season but he only makes 5 over the last 2 years of the deal.

There is no problem with Hartnell, the problem is with people's expectations. The Flyers have a lot of good forwards, but not enough ice time to give to them all.
It's like everybody in the summer talking about how great the Flyers will be because they got such and such, etc
When you have a bucnh of defencemen who played 25 minutes a game for their old teams (Jason Smith, Kimmo Timonen, etc) and you have solid defencemen of your own getting that kind of time (Derian Hatcher, etc) they can't all play 25 minutes for their new team. Somebody will get a reduction in ice time resulting in a reduction in goals.
I added up the ice times last year of who I thought the top 12 forwards should be (the total should not exceed 180) and the total was 224 minutes. That is 44 minutes to be lost that needs to be shared among 12 forwards, or almost 4 minutes a game. Somebody will have a reduction in points. Hartnell is not good enough to be on the first two lines in Philadelphia (contrasted to his first and second line status in Nashville), so his reduction was expected.
And yes, they overpaid!

What can they fix?How about their attitude.Apparently anything goes even if it causes permanent injury to another player.Saw they got another suspension. They are single handily funding the players association that aids players injured and unable to play again.Unfortunately this does not make any kind of impact or they would play a cleaner game.
I'm not talking about a fight I'm talking about the nasty, dirty hits they keep making. The 20 and 25 game suspensions for pre season hand early season bad acts did nothing to wake the player that did the deed or the team and it's management.
Want to fix something? Start at the top and work down.

Hey, he's a left wing AND right wing problem for my fantasy hockey team. So I don't want to hear Philly or their fans being Sidney Crosbys over there. He's had plenty of time at RW courtesy of my favorite healthy scratch, Mark Recchi. Then he has to go and get suspended... He does have 48 PIMs though. Must be the boarding and fighting majors...
Anyway, Laying Low's right; the only way for Paul Holmgren to fix that wing is to acquire Mark Recchi and in exchange deal Hartnell to Pittsburgh. Perhaps Ray Shero can sweeten the deal with some complimentary Mark Recchi bobbleheads, boxed up after tonight's game. You know, it's almost like Philly and "da 'Burgh" have joint custody of Mark Recchi, they just send him back and forth between them...

Starting to look more like a right wing extremist problem.
Looks like another suspension is on the horizon from the game against Dallas.

Talk to Erica. Maybe they can trade him to the Penguins for Recchi.
$4.2 million per year for six years?? And people complain about DiPietro's contract of 4.5 mil per year (I know 15 years)
