Yes

Democrates do all the things the Republican would like to do but can't get away with it. Increase wealth gap between rich and poor - sign off on mining and oil exploitation rights in protected land etc. - And end wars.

But it takes a republican to start a real war.

Used to be but I think it has all changed. They are all just politicians with their own agendas. The people vote and elect them due to promises, but you don't see them carried out after election. I heard all the "We will end the war" promises before election but my Senator now tells me it won't even be discussed until 2009, same as the immigration issue. The current Congress appears to be a "do nothing" one. Republicans didn't do much in the last 7 years and now the Democrats are following suit. All we can be guaranteed they will do is increase their salaries each year and take more time off.

Are you asking between real democrats and republicans or between political democrats and republicans?? There are some real differences between people who call themselves republicans and democrat (opinions on abortion, how to create and spend $, treatment of businesses). As far as I can tell though politicians who align themselves with one party don't seem all that different (unless they are way on one side) from one another.

Yes! Shame on you for not knowing this answer. Republicans are 100% for the rich. They do everything possible to line the pockets of all of their rich friends. They really don't care about the average working stiff at all. Now the democrats are different than that. They are 99% for their rich friends and supporters. They care about the poor and working class, so they divide that other 1% up between them. How can you not see the difference?

Not that much and at the same time very much. Thing is it are the extremes that make them different. Moderate Democrats and Republicans are just the same. The two party system drives every politician who wants to be elected to the center. I asked a few Q's about this earlier.

Moderation is not a quality especially in a country where the center since the eighties is pushed to the right. America needs reform and alternative parties.

"These are times when what used to be called liberal is now called radical; what used to be called radical is now called insane; what used to be called reactionary is now called moderate; and what used to be called insane is now called solid, neo-conservative thinking." - Katrina vanden Heuvel

The only main difference is republicans believe in trickle down economics and democrats don't. Most everything else is an ethical issue that differs in the two.

I don't really think so. Well, the difference I see is what group of voters they target in their campaigns. Republicans target the conservative and religious group while the democrats target the liberal and more educated group.

Once elected, the two parties act pretty much the same. They make all decisions based on self gain.

After all the promises have been made and the smoke has cleared, people usually find out that there is little difference.
Both parties have their own similar agendas concerning power and money.
Until this country gets a third party going.....this is what we are left with.

not really. It used to be that Republicans were for limited government.

The main difference that I see is that Democrats want to expand government to help you because you are not SMART
enough to do it (whatever IT is). The Republicans expand government because you are not MORAL enough to do IT on your own.

Yes they are both corrupt parties. Democrats can't get with corruption but for the Republicans it is acceptable part of their daily norm.

sort of. republicans are more "traditional" and follow a lot of "religious" beliefs like no same sex marriage, no abortion, but not all republicans believe that, look at gulini. demorcarts are more "open-minded" another difference in their views on the war in iraq. most democrats are against it while most republicans are for it. also democrats are pretty much all for a universal healthcare system, and are more enviormentally based (forcing companies to reduce pollution) while most of the republican party wants to gain more money but charging for healthcare and not caring what companies do.
