2 months ago I missed my period. 1 month ago (4.5 weeks ago) I had a HCG blood test done to confirm pregnancy and it came back saying 4-5 weeks.

So that would mean I'm 8-9 weeks now cuz that was a month ago.

I had an ultrasound a couple days ago and the technician said it looks more like 4 weeks and it's just a small sac only 1cm.

Why would this be? is my baby maybe not alive? did it form at all? or maybe there is no baby...just a sac?

I don't understand....

I have not had bleeding....only minor spotting. This is my first pregnancy. Yes I will goto the doctor...just asking here for now...

Any input welcome please and thank you!!

I would agree its probably a blighted ovum. The same thing happened to me. I waited until i started getting a little more spotting and bleeding before i went in for a D&C. I had them do another ultrasound before the procedure to put me at ease and the sac had started shrinking. Just do what feels most comfortable to you. I personally was already an emotional wreck so i chose the D&C. It is very common for women to miscarry their first pregnancy. Two years later i'm 20 weeks and everything is going great (both pregnancies were accidents but the dr. told me if i wanted i could have tried to get pregnant 2 months later). Just try to keep your head up =).

The age of the fetus from a blood test could be wrong. The only real way to tell how far along you are is the math. Even an ultrasound can only tell how big the fetus is and then it is an estimate on how far along you are. Unless the ultrasound tech said they could not see a heartbeat then I would not worry. I know that is easier said than done. But worrying will only make it worse on yourself. But of course there is always a chance that the fetus is not growing and I am sure if the tech suspected that then you would have seen a doc right away. I wish you the best.

only time can tell sweetie, a few months ago i had a missed miscarriage, i had an ultrasound at 1 1/2 months they told me to come back a couple weeks later to see if the baby grows at all because i could have been earlier than they though but it turns out i did miscarry,( they didnt find a heartbeat) i had no bleeding, pain, nothing, it was like i was still pregnant..only the baby didn't develope at all!...but the doctors will take good care of u and inform u on what u need to know, you are probably earlier than you thought..i wish u luck

If ultrasounds have been undesirable for the child, human beings does no longer get carry of them... I even have been seeing a professional on condition that i replaced into 4 months pregnant, and the appts have been each 3 wks - I have been given 2 ultrasounds (one by using a tech and one by using the healthcare expert) every time. when I hit 32 weeks, i began out having the ultrasounds as quickly as each week... i might think of this does not be finished if it have been volatile. At each appt, the child is doing ok, and he or she's becoming merely effective.

sounds like a miscarriage (missed miscarriage) your body probably hasn't started expelling everything and you may need to have a D&C.
I'm sorry you're going through this. This happened to me about nine months ago (yes I would have had my twins right now). I went in at 6 weeks and four weeks later they were still measuring 6 weeks. The doctor still had me wait another 2 weeks (because she was dumb enough to think I may have miscalculated my period) by then I was starting to have some spotting...I never had heavy bleeding or cramps, that's why I had to have the D&C.
Don't give up hope!!!

Sweety...a blood test can only confirm pregnancy, NOT tell you how far along you are which is why you had an ultrasound! Usually doctors only give you an ultrasound that early in order to determine your due date (meaning to find out how far along you are)! Unless the doctor has shown concern then there is none. How far along and when you are due is always a guess...you can never know for sure! Good luck and Congrats!!

It may be a blighted ovum. That's where the materials needed to make a baby aren't present. In these cases a sac forms and HCG levels usually start off normally but then start to drop. It's the number one cause of a first trimester miscarriage. I'm so sorry. It doesn't mean it will happen again though. If you don't start to bleed on your own, a D&C may be performed.

It sounds like missed miscarriage... There should be a heartbeat by now {it is visible from 7 wks on}. But maybe you just conceived later, you will probably have another scan to see if the baby is growing.
