I'm a rocker and really enjoy music from the late 60's like Steppenwolf or Iron Butterfly just to name a couple. Pink Floyd and Yes from the 70's and Europe and Poison from the 80's. It was in the 80's that a line was drawn. Country music and rock combined to create a completely new kind of music. I call it Country Rock and I'm sure many others agree this is a good name for it. Garth Brooks exemplified this element in an album where he went by the name of rock singer Chris Gaines. Considering this I'm undecided about your question because I enjoy both but, I will pick rock 'n' roll for the sake of your poll.

Hey, that'll do. Did you know that an obscure 60's British pop group called the "Yardbirds", produced three of the best Rock guitarists the world has ever known?

Eric Clapton
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page

In that order. What a great group they were!

Chet Atkins is probably the best guitar player/picker ever, and while he isn't known as a true rocker, he was a well known session player for many early rock & roll, country, swing/honky tonk classics.

For straight up rock & roll, you would be hard pressed to find a better guitar player than Hendrix.

Jimmy Page. Hendrix was a class of his own, and so was Stevie Ray Vaughn. Slash's pretty awesome...
