I had this done a few years ago for exploratory purposes. It is a very straightforward procedure though you may have some cramping afterwards (like period pains). Also don't be surprised if you have sore shoulders (seriously!) as this is something to do with the nerves but will settle in a few days. Also, though endometreosis can in some cases reduce fertility there are treatments available to help your chances of conceiving (my friend who is now in her 40's has had endometreosis for years and has managed to have 2 children now aged 14 and 8). Good luck with the examination and your future motherhood!

Theres always a chance of complications with any surgical procedure but it is very unlikely that you would have a serious effect like being left infertile.

Fewer than 1% of procedures have some complication, and most of these are simple things (such as having the end of the needle in slightly the wrong place) which can be corrected during the operation and would have no after-effects, or nicking another organ (bladder, bowel or blood vessel) on the way in, which again should be detected and treated at the time or might require post-operative antibiotics.

There is always a chance of post-op infection, but laporoscopy is relatively safe compared to other gynaecological surgery. Overall, the chance of a major complication is probably less than 0.1%.

I hope that reassures you.

This procedure is relatively safe. You will be put to sleep and feel very little after this surgery. Your tummy will be bloated and you will be a little sore. I doubt any of this will affect your fertility. You will be fine hun. I had it done a couple times for endometriosis. I survived it and did fine. The only thing from this that can affect your fertility is the endometriosis. Don't fret....you are young and there is a lot more treatment available for endometriosis today. many people with endometriosis go along and have children.
Good luck. Try to relax . You will be OK.

the chances of it going wrong are slim, you should find all of that out from your DR before you sign the consent form because if you don't you are not giving informed consent. operations are not supposed to be performed without informed consent!

Good look hope all is ok
