I don't think people should go around with their pants down regardless of their race, color, or ethnicity. How does this "unfairly target minorities" if nobody is allowed to do it?

You are quite correct. I think it fairly targets minorities who do it most. As a woman, it offends me as much as women going around with skirts so short their rear ends are hanging out or going around without underwear. People need to get a grip, there is such a thing as good public behavior to be considered. People are too selfish, me, me, me, me.

I think that people say this because it has been a popular style for many urban black teens. For example, if there was a ban against wearing black lipstick or spiky hair (a goth kind of look) then it would be clear that mostly white teens would be affected, since in general, many (but not all) teens of other races do not wear these types of clothes. Usually people say things are unfair because one set of clothing/behaviors is targetted, when another similar set of clothing/behaviors is not. Now if they banned sagging pants, low-cut jeans with thongs showing, low cut tops and belly shirts, etc. that would be more fair because the ban would affect all sorts of distractions to the learning environment and would affect all kids - not just one set. Or better yet, if clothing is a problem - they should just have school uniforms.

It's a stupid kid fad, anyone over 16 doing it needs a reality check. It actually comes from the prison society, that some fools wish to emulate. Ban it in general and to hell with this race nonsense. I for one am tired of the race card coming up for every little thing...Santa HO HO HO..racist. I say pull up your pants, get a job, support your own kids, and get a life.

It is because of their popularity with African American males. If the law said "No underwear or skin can show above the top of the pants", I think it would be fine because it would trap every female under the age of 18.

The style goes to extremes, twice in Indianapolis I have seen pants belted around the THIGHS, completely off the buttocks, with the wearer staggering around trying to keep them up. It looks retarded! You see every bit of their boxers-how is that not offensive to me? I don't want to see your underwear!

I don't know but they should've passed this law a long time ago, I thought it would be a fad, but it keeps on going. I can't stand to see guys walk around like that, pulling up their pants every 3 seconds. It's not cute...and real men don't sag.

Because it is a behavior that is *primarily* exhibited by one race. It would affect 95% black kids, and only a very fringe element of other kids.

Banning Spanish speaking in school is also a rule that would "apply to everyone" but seem "targeted at Hispanics". Does that analogy help you understand?

It's clearly an attempt to single out "hip hop" culture.

Back in the day, there was a set of laws in California that made laundrymats made of wood illegal. No problem, right? However, only Chinese laundries were made of wood, so it was clearly an anti-Chinese law. This is no different.

b/c minorities think that they are special and should be treated as such. However, They should realize that just b/c someone says that something cant be done anymore doesnt mean it targets just them.... and who said black ppl were minorities?

i agree with a lot of people that say it singles out one race, but its not only against one race but against one sex. Do you really think a women with low cut jeans and her thong hanging out will get fined?
