I have been working for this company for 4 years! I have been the kitchen manager for 3. I have been responsible for a multi million dollar restaurant that is very popular, but I will remain anonamyous.
Anyways, back in March we had gotten a new General Manager, I was informed that he did not like me at all and he had plans to get rid of me.
Each time I was on vacation, and I did not do my inventory and he did, my numbers were sky high. It took me nearly a month and a half to get them back down.
By the beginning of October, I was having to work 6 days a week over 70 hours. He was working less than 40 hours and only 3-4 days a week calling in every shift manager to work for him. I know he has that right, but that only displays his laziness.
Not to mention there is another manager there that has had more complaints on him than any other manager.
I knew that I was getting forced out, but I needed the $$.
Now, I am getting 15. an hr.
Was this fair? I was never written up or anythin

make sure your documentation is in order and start with the appeal process thru your Human Resources Department.

When things get hairy at work, it's always a good idea to think of an exit plan. (i.e. Brush up your resume including measurable accomplishments, target 5-10 other restaurants for whom you'd like to work, go in early, dress for an interview and drop off your resume. Ask for the GM or the Exec Chef, and tell them that you were hoping to have the opportunity to speak with someone about the opportunity in their kitchen, and talk about the opportunity to go to their kitchen. TRY NOT TO SPEAK POORLY ABOUT ANYONE YOU WORK FOR OR WITH. Just make sure you talk about why you want to go TO their restaurant as opposed to AWAY from your job.)

Now that you have a strategy for an exit, you can bring some things to light WITHOUT FEAR of losing your job, or ruffling anyone's feathers. Go to the GM and tell him that you know it's important to work together on making the restaurant successful, and he is the boss, there's no question there, but you feel that there's tension, and you can site some specifric examples if you feel that's important to get resolution.

Honestly, though, if he sees you as a threat, you may have to look pretty seriously at those exit route options. Good luck!

rabscribe everything and make an appointment with him to politely discuss your concerns. do NOT go in all wild with accusations! Make sure you are professional and polite to him at all times, no matter how annoyed you are. The purpose of the meeting is to find out what his objectives are and how you cna best meet them. If he sees you still have an itnerest in meeting his goals maybe he will back of a little. but he first has to listen to you and you have to listen to him. be prepared tot ake notes and ask questions if you have them. do not generalze. no sentences starting with "you always" or " you never" relate to specific incidents and point out patterns. perhaps he doesn't realize he is being unfaie.

Simmer down. Try to approach him and find out why he is doing this to you. Perhaps he has been given orders by Head Company to kick every single one of you out so to save on retrenchment benefits. Conversely, you can devise ways to bite back at him like gathering all the vital proofs of his inefficiency and mismanagement before reporting to his 'boss'. Anyway, just be discreet. :)

Fair - heck no, doesn't sound like it. But if you are asking is it illegal, no it isn't. Even if it's just because for whatever reason he doesn't like you, it's still legal. Stinks, but legal.

Good luck. I assume that you are looking for another job. When you find one, leave and don't look back.
