This was my first digital camera (sony w50) and I've had it for couple of months. Now it is gone... thanks to the person who went inside my friend's car and took it and just ran off... Why would a anyone do that? Aren't ppl educated enough to know that stealing is not ethical and espcially where it can be seen? My friend saw the person run off and then get on the bike, couldn't catch him... even though there were security cameras on the site... Now all my memories are being watched by some miserable stranger and it is just an invasion of privacy

The same reason why a person would steal any item - the value of the item or kleptomania.

Because it was available, they are a thief and they thought they could get away with it.
Probably not the first time they've done it, either and if it was risky timing and place, they could be a drug addict very hard up to get money for their next fix.
Unfortunately there has and always will be dishonest, thieving people in the world who do not care that they are taking property someone else worked hard for.
I had my house broken into once. It felt like total violation knowing a stranger was in my house going through all my things.

I had someone break the windows of my car and run off I'm pretty sure just to be annoying because nothing was stolen even though I had left my stereo and jacket in the car. It was really annoying I had to pay out £300 to get the windows fixed and the police never found the guy. That was about 3 years ago and it still bugs me to this day.

Because they needed the money more than the inconvenience it would have been to keep the camera with you in your handbag.
I know you want someone to say that it was wrong and that person should be punished. My house was burgled and the cops didn't do a thing.
But if it were me, the only one I'd be punishing would be myself and maybe consider keeping your valuables in the trunk.

Well, people steal stuff. That is life. Was the car unlocked? Where the windows open?
You shouldn't leave stuff like that out for people to steal. I lock my car all the time but still always take my iPod and GPS with me anyways.

Some people don't care about the feelings of others. I feel they are miserable and want others to be just as miserable as they are. I am sorry you had to suffer a loss. Don't let them take away your inner peace. Whoever took it will eventually have to pay for their actions. I hope sooner rather than later.

Sorry, but people steal. You should not leave a digital camera out in the open. You should also lock the doors. You really should have had it in your purse.
