My brother-in-law gets Social Security Disability benefit payments because of his health problems associated with chemical sensitivity (allergy? reaction to environmental chemicals? sorry I don't know the medical diagnosis). It's not much money, less than $1000 a month. He was a farmer for many years and also worked in a shop where he was exposed to potent chemicals. To my knowledge he did not get compensation from the company where he worked. As a farmer he used many pesticides, etc., without regard to safety. He now lives in a very rural part of the USA where the rugged terrain eliminates farming and the chemicals used. He avoids crowds of people because of perfume, hairspray, etc. and is doing much better health-wise now.

Several years ago I developed a disease that apparently may have been caused by my exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam years ago. Upon seeking help from the Veterans Association, I found they were willing to help with medications but went into full denial as far as compensation,
Its been three years for me and the general consensus is that the govt. keeps stalling so most of us will eventually die off... saving lots of money.
All these politicians waving the flag and patting our new veterans on the back as they come home from Iraq, make me furious.

A wonderful gentleman, who took up the cause of compensation, for Asbestos exposure from working for a very large company, who have now opened the the USA too.
Sadly, his Compensation came through, after a long battle in court, and one weeks later, he passed away. (Last week in fact). I have a good freind in the UK, whose husband died from the same thing, and can may be able to help. GW and Lad G have my email. If I can help, and get you in touch with them, please contact.

we_are that posted is exactly right. My brother has lung cancer. He served 3 years in Vietnam while they were spraying Agent Orange. The government is in total denial about all of this. I was reading about a cleaner called Simple Green that can cause cancer because of a certain ingredient, yet it has been approved by FDA as non toxic. Pretty scary I think.

My man died a year ago from exposure to Agent Orange backed up with hay and cattle feed!! His lungs were so scarred he couldn't breathe. In answer to your question, yes, you can sue for exposure. Get you a good lawyer and file for disability if your down!!
ncgirl, your right the govt. never would admit it was caused from Agent Orange! But, will acknowledge prostate cancer and that is very prevalent whether you were sprayed or not!!

After my dad died, we had an autopsy done, he had black lung, he never worked in mines or anything near that type of work. It was from when he was young and they used coal for heating and Chicago's air quality was really contaminated and black from coal.
My cousin did 3 terms in Nam, developed brain cancer and his daughter was born with a defective heart. All courtesy of Agent Orange

No. I guess I'm pretty lucky not to know anyone harmed by chemicals.
