My vote is for Tony Parker...no guard is playing close to his level right now and with Duncan out he will carry the Spurs.

I am a die hard Spurs fan (TP is on my fantasy team) but I have to disagree slightly with you on this one.

If you compare the stats between Tony Parker and Chris Paul you'll see that Paul is statistically performing better right now - averaging 3 more assists, 1 more rebound, 2 more steals per game. The shooting from inside the arc favors parker (.479 to .526) but free throw shooting and 3 point percentage edges to Paul.

TP is definitely in the top 5, but I don't know that he's the BEST. There are so many good PGs out there (Allen Iverson, Jamal Tinsley and Baron Davis, anyone?) that it's hard to say that ONE PG stands out above all others right now. No doubt TP is playing at a high level. But he's also got a great supporting cast and an established team system to fall back on when things go rough. And this comes from a die hard Spurs fan.

In the end, Parker has more rings (and is looking to add another one this year) which is all that matters. If TP can win another ring, then it'll be settled quite definitively.

I love Parker and the Spurs but the best PG is Nash followed by Kidd. The worse type of PG is one that looks to shoot first, doesn't get the rest of the team involved. A good PG needs to have a large number of assists. However, if a PG only passes and is not a scoring threat, he won't be very effective distributing the ball because the defense will be anticipating the pass.

A great PG needs to consistantly have at least 10 assists and 10 points per game (double-double every night). Kidd sometimes even gets a triple double with over 10 rebounds. So there is room for Parker to improve.

1)Gilbert Arenas=Good PG even though I think he would be better at the 2 guard
2)Allen Iverson=when he's out on the floor with Carmelo he creates a Dynamic Duo and they can become unstoppable
3)Steve Nash=an amazing PG PERIOD.
4)Jason Kidd=solid PG he averages a double-double almost every night
5)Tony Parker=an amazing PG need proof ?? watch the finals lol
6)Deron Williams=a rising star, he a pure PG and can be compared to Isiah Thomas
7)Stephon Marbury=one of the most contreverial players in the league but he is a great player, he averages 20 and 8 no has done that since Oscar Robertson, needs to be an actual leader though and not leave the team bcuz he's not in the line-up !!!

**Note-numbers not ranked in nessicarily order**

chris paul and tony parker and williams because all three lead there team they are fast they are the new kind of point gaurd every team needs some one fast to move the ball and get into the lane they both play defense and get double teamed but find the open man. also i would say jason kidd is right behind them because he gets rebonds and plays defense.
any one who says billups and nash doesn't know basketball. nash doesn't know what defense is the only reason the suns when is they outscore there oppenents and that wont win championships ask the mavs. billups plays defense but he only shots he doesn't drive to the net and kick it out.

Paul and parker are the best then kidd

i know u said its stupid but common sense is def. steve nash if u look at what a pg is suppose to do then its steve nash puts up points great defense and has the most assists so at that position its nash but if i couldnt choose him at all it would be deron williams. Deron williams is what makes that team without him they would be nothin spurs have finley duncan and manu. yes the jazz have boozer but who makes him good thats deron williams and look how old he is he has a great future ahead of him and he is making himself better every year. Yes parker helps out his team but duncan and finley were already good without parker. Def. deron williams

Baron Davis is the most talented pg in the NBA. Guys like Nash and Parker play with better teams and systems designed for theyre success, but they cant hang with Davis. Hes one of the best scorers in the league, his jumpshot is unconscious, hes bigger and stronger than most guards, but still quicker. He can post up down low. He grabs boards and is among the leaders in assists. Deron Williams is the future.
