I'd be worried if they were using those sun tanning bulbs.

Suicide watch, perhaps? That's why they do it in the Netherlands. People often offer infrared cameras as an alternative, but then there are those who claim that at least some source of light is needed for those to work, which may not always be present in cells for solitary confinement.

When you are in prison, light are kept on so there is light for the guards to walk up and down checking on prisoners, and for the cameras to work. At a certain time at night lights are cut back so they are not on full force, this is for everyones protection. This man is not being treated any different than others, only that he can't have contact with other humans for fear of their lives. It is always amazing how someone that kills not once, but many times, can cry because he has a light on. Believe me, if you get tired enough you will sleep. As far as exercise goes, he can exercise in his cell if he really wanted to, but then he couldn't whine about his treatment could he.

You got people working 24/7. It isn't punishment. It's security for those that are sentenced to a live of 40 years employment before they become eligible for retirement. It sure is hard keeping an eye on folks that are locked up in cells all night long with the lights out...I might go to sleep!

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
If a person has been put in prison, they have lost everything and having the lights on is only helping to keep others from doing the bump and grind on each other thus keeping as straight as possible. I don't know who you know that's in prison but would you rather they be gang raped?

Even in solitary, he is monitored 24/7 and they need lights to do that. He's lucky he's not in Texas... he would have been executed long ago.

After reading this I came to this conclusion. The man has no regard for human life but wants the public to feel sorry for him? Sorry, not me. He knows how to file a lawsuit so he knows right from wrong but doesn't care. I think he has only one right. The right to be executed. No more cruel and unusual punishment.
