I am thinking about colleges and both of these schools look cool. I live in Massachusetts. What are your opinions on these two schools? which one do you think is better? i am still unsure of my major so that does not matter, both schools offer majors i would be interested in.

Both schools are excellent -- so you can't really go wrong. USC is ranked slightly higher by US News -- but not so much that it makes a difference. You should probably apply to both schools. The decision may eventually be made for you.

If you get into both schools, doing a comparison of the features will help you decide which is better. Some things are comparable. Academics are close (there are majors where one or the other are superior). Both have maroon as a school color (which I view as a big negative).

As for the differences, there are two major ones to consider. BC is a Catholic University while USC is a private non-religious university. The second is location. I personally hated living in California but loved living in the Boston area -- but many people love LA. If you were not from Massachusetts, I would tell you to pick BC because Boston is such a great college town. But there is a real appeal for some people to go away to school. But then some students don't want to be too far from their friends and family.

You have to decide which of these factors are most important.

Good luck.

USC has a great reputation--but BC has a better reputation. It has smaller classes, which is great. Boston is an amazing city to go to college in--L.A. isn't really (and plus, USC is near a relatively dangerous area of L.A.) If you go so far away, you will probably miss your family a LOT--you might not be able to go home for holidays, which really sucks. BC may be a Christian/Catholic/whatever college, but that does NOT mean it's very religious. It's small too, so you'll get more sense of a community--at USC you'll probably have to join a sorority or fraternity in order to really make friends and feel a part of something.

First, USC isn't needed besides the reality that it have a great popularity, much less tension would be good in learn, so take Boston college given which you may achievement in anyplace you're in..
