I would very much like to start making wuilts. It is something that has interested me for a long time. I would like people's opinions who have done it- is it diffucult? I have a sewing machine and would consider myself at beginner level. If it is difficult, what are some easy projects that i could start with to build my skills? Thanks in advance!

You might enjoy taking a class at your local quilt store. That way you can get answers to any questions as they arise. Start with a wall hanging, lap quilt or pillow just to get the hang of it.

There are many choices on what kind of quilt to make, but here are some beginner patterns

Could agree more with those who mentioned to join a quilt group. All of us started by doing our first project. Would recommend making something like a table runner/topper first. Your local quilt shop would be more than happy to help you. If you go there when they're not too busy, they may even give you a personalized lesson. Enjoy it is the most important part.

I agree. Join a local quilt guild. It is fun and generally people are very eager to help new quilters. That's how I learned. Other tip, measuring and sewing accurate seams is more important in quilting than in garment construction. Have fun- the most important thing about quilting!

The best way is to find a Guild in your area, I was a sewer but had never attempted a quilt and three years later I think I am pretty good thanks to all the help from fellow guild members
