Good question, I think yes. People are so focused on the outside beauty nowadays that if you are a gay man who is in shape and looks hot you would be more accepted than a 500lb man no matter what that man was like on the inside.

In some parts of the USA I think it is more acceptable to be gay than morbidly obese. Especially when you compare someone who is discreet about their sexuality to someone who is morbidly obese. Let's face it, when you're morbidly obese you can't hide that.
Though when ever I go out into the red state hinterlands I find being obese is just being big and being gay still puts a target on your back.
Most folks are good natured and reasonably tolerant but all of us have a dark side and we all are at least uncomfortable with some group for some arbitrary reason.

Everything is acceptable, depending on what part of the country you are in, and even what part of the city. I accept everyone for who they are, and how they treat me. It is not up to me to judge any ones life style. I am not obese, but I am some what over weight, and I am straight, with a lot of gay friends.

Yes, gay people, who are not acting as provocative activists, are very well integrated in our society. Morbidly obese people are people, who have an illness and need treatment but not too much sympathy, if they caused their illness themselves.

I think the easiest way to answer this is this way.
I can go to a job interview and not be judged on my sexuality. I'm thin, I will probably get the job. A person who is fat is not as likely to get it because they are percieved as lazy.
Its hard to say. However, MOST americans are obese. 60%. Its a big problem.
