"The conviction of Gillian Gibbons under Sudan's Islamic Sharia law shocked Britons and many Muslims worldwide. It also inflamed passions among many Sudanese, some of whom called for her execution."

This example of putting a teacher in jail for naming a toy Muhammad...just proves how insane these ME people REALLLLLLLY are.
How can the British Allow one of its citizens to be treated these way? INSANE!

This is why we will never really have a good relationship with a truly Islamic nation. The vocal minority will always get the headlines and the majority of the west will only see the intolerant religious nuts as the ones who control those countries. Too bad, as Islam is an interesting religion and these people harm the majority who are moderate and understanding.

I try to be "Politically Correct" and believe that all cultures are different but have value. I try to believe that all viewpoints should be respected, especially religious ones.

But this is simply wrong. It shows an inability to forgive a minor mistake. How could you raise children in such a culture? How can you welcome the stranger into your home, an act considered holy to Jews, Muslims, and Christians, and not understand that their culture is not your own?

I am starting to believe that there will never be peace in the Middle East when the dominant culture there does not respect differences or value the individual person.

I see the point that it is only a vocal minority that causes these problems. Please explain to me why the majority does not speak up?

Yes she was pardoned by the Sudanese president today. But it just goes to show you why their is so much unrest in Islamic dominated countries. Their governments are secular meaning their government ideologies are tied to their respective religion. In the middle east the "mullahs" rule the country not the government. So hence the insanity since its insane to expect mere "priests" to make sane decisions.

I wonder what the prophet Muhammad would have to say about it if he were alive today. I bet he wouldn't mind kids naming a teddy bear after him. He certainly wouldn't want the teacher going to jail over this. Why are people so insane?

About 80% of Sudanese Muslims disagreed with this. But a small, vocal religious minority pushed it through.

Sound familiar.

They act like a bunch of wild rabid animals.
