Because most of us want all of the attention on only ourselves, so if another women is wearing the same dress we'll have to share that attention.
Personally I think it's funny. I usually go up to them and say " LOVE! that dress!" Or "You've got great taste in clothes", which usually makes the other lady laugh.
It's just a dress, no need for drama!

I've honestly never understood it, as a woman myself. I mean...who cares? There's only so many different dresses out there, and it's not like every dress is custom made...
I guess part of it, at least at parties and stuff, is that they probably wore it so they'd get noticed and everything, but if someone else is wearing it, it's not as "unique" anymore - especially if they're afraid the other girl looks better in it.
I don't know, it seems silly to me.

I would not freak out about this but it probably will never happen as I don't shop in places that manufacture and sell on mass.
I enjoy looking different from everyone else so choose pieces that maybe only a couple have been made or alter them to be different... ;0)

Good question, because unless they MADE the dress themselves, ANYONE can walk in to a store and pull a duplicate right off the rack. Women sometimes just don't see the big picture - they would rather just react instead of think logically, that's all.

They probably want to feel really good about themselves being it's a special occasion that required they wear something special.
Some are probably worried they don't look as good in the dress as the other person, too.
Men do have it so much easier clothing-wise for formal occasions ... suit or tux and they're set!

Some women like to kid themselves that their cheap chainstore / supermarket dress is haute couture. What really incenses them is when the other woman looks better in the same dress!

As long as I look better than she does, I don't care. lol
But really, we usually get pissed off if the other woman wears the dress or outfit better than we do.
