Most people with disabilities do not have special abilities and we are not cursed, and we are not lacking.

A person with a disability is more like you than unlike you. You could become a person with a disability in seconds through an accident, disease, or later acquired inheritable disability.

People are different. Some excel at sports, some excel in business, and some are amazing friends. It is the same whether you have a disability or not.

Sometimes because a person with a disability has a specific impairment instead of working much harder with that aspect for themselves- they work much harder with one of the aspects of them self that is not impaired. Same with people without disabilities - if you can't sing - would you try to excel at being a singer? No. You would try to excel at something you could already do well or even just OK.

So if you can't sing, you might decide to learn to play the drums. When you work really hard at it and become successful do people say it is because you can't sing?

So when a person who is disabled and can't speak clearly and be understood chooses not to learn to sing and instead learns to play drums - they are not exceptional in any way different than had a person without a disability become exceptional at playing drums.

The only thing different is the person with a disability might try much harder to prove to people that they are capable.

And the excepetion to that - are the people who are savants - and they are a definite minority and exception.

Good question but cursed is hardly a word to use for disabled people.
There is a foxtel (cable) program coming on here (OZ) in December which is called "SuperHumans" and it is about disabled people who can do extraordinary things. It will be fascinating to watch.
The thing I have learnt is that the human body and mind is incredible and can and does make up for any lack.
Because a person may lose an ability or maybe born that way their mind and body does compensate for that. Just how it does it is still a matter for scientific research but it is certainly fascinating stuff.
I have also learnt that many who become disabled later in life have a greater motivation than those who take their abilities for granted and it spurs them on to greater things!!!

I totally disagree with your statement that "mostly disabled people have special abilties than others who totally capable"

Unless I misunderstood your meaning, I do not believe that most people who have any kind of disability have "special abilities"

A rare few have special abiities - especially in the autism stream of disabilily, but - having worked and supported people with disabilities for over 30 years, I don't see anything to support your statement.

May be you can clarify what you are saying?

I have advanced MS and my son is a nonverbal 15 year old with autism. I do not feel I was cursed with having a disabled child I consider him a gift because nearly died twice by the time he was 1 year old from digestive problems. He is good with computers and other electronics because that is his form of communicating. I am good with electronics and at making people laugh. When life gives you lemons make lemonade or choose to turn sour because of the cards you were dealt.
Hope I helped

Cursed? Theres a lovely thought for disabled persons struggling to overcome limitations and live as normal a life as possible. I assume you somehow had yourself transported here from the 1600's?

Just remember this, not all disabled people are born disabled, there are such things as accidents and God may decide you are worth educating and arrange one for you so you can learn about disabilities.

There are mental disabilities , one of them manifests itself in having very little social skills and blurting out things that other people perceive as being extremely rude and ignorant - hmm I wonder?

They are not able to take things for granted the way most people do. That's the reason I feel they are better able to develop special abilities over others. I don't think they are cursed at all. You can't help the way you were born or certain circumstances, but you should always make the most of what you have.

Orville Redenbacher says; "Learn one thing and do it well" (Something like that).
Many of us may be able to do many things. Because of the variety, we may never become totally proficient in any one thing we do.
When a person is limited in what they can do, they focus more on what they can do and excel in that area.
Example; Look at an Olympic Figure Skater. That person may spend hours every day training for this.
Someone who not make it to the Olympics, may work an hour a day, then go shopping, and run around with their boyfriend 4 hours a day etc.
True in this example we can argue it Politics, but, that not what I try to show.
Another example is myself. I can play a piano and it OK. But, I not practice everyday because I have other things I want to do. Some who can not walk may spend hours a day playing their piano and believe me, they make me look like I playing "Chop Sticks". ;-)

My friend lost both legs in Iraq and he always says "Have faith." He can drive and is learning to walk with stubbies so he can get his prosthetic legs. I believe it's all up to that person who is disabled to choose what they can or cannot do. My friend has climbed a rock wall using just his arms, gone surfing, scuba diving, etc. However, this does not just go for someone who is disabled, it goes to those of us who are not. If we put our minds to it, we can do anything we want.... well pretty much but if we convince ourselves things are impossible, we live in an impossible world. I have learned to have faith and put my mind and potential to acheive what I want to do and accomplish.

I sometimes wonder if it wasn't things in my past life to cause my misfortune with the disability and the stigma I've gotten from family, "friends", and others.

I've had past life readings done, I think it's probably more them than me though.
