Seems like the GOP is making a huge mistake, counting on "Hating Hillary" to win them an election. The swing vote in America, which is the vote that actually elects Presidents these days (the fence-sitters) seem to hate Bush a lot more than they hate Hillary (these are the voters who are on the dissatisfied end of the polls on Bush's performance but who are not necessarily Democrats). The GOP candidates are having a good laugh at hating Hillary but they don't have much substance otherwise. What do you think?

Sparkles: You apparently don't know what a socialist is. Calling Hillary one is hysterically funny and very very wrong.

kveryeff: She didn't call Patreaus a liar--she questioned his credibility, as well she should have, given the stakes.

That'll get the rabid base out but that's about it.
As soon as they start talking foreign policy, the economy, education, health care, fiscal responsibility, etc...the people will realize that what they were duped into believing under Bush and the Republicans was all smoke and mirrors.
Republicans will play up Hillary's unlikeability, as they should, but what can they point to and say "look we did this right." Keeping us safe? We're over that line.
This election will be about an unpopular President, his failed policies and the Republicans in power that uphold his vetoes on bills that the American people are overwhelmingly in favor of.

It is far more than a game plan for the election. If she should win it will not end there (although I do not believe she will win). Hillary makes her husband look like Ghandi when it comes to divisiveness.
If she were to win she will be fought tooth and nail with every single item she brings before the American people. She will do her regular witch thing...and the people will hate her even more. If she can't be stopped one way...she will be stopped another.
Now as far as the election goes....
Hillary is dropping in all polls across the nation.
She is the cause of that drop not a Republican gameplan (if you haven't noticed yet she is our Republican choice for Dem nominee LOL).
The one thing we can count on with Hillary (that we couldn't with her husband as much) is that Hillary will play to each and every attack handed her, and it wont play well for her. People do not like her. The more she talks the more she does herself in.

Fact Hillary is the most respected woman in the USA. She will not go into the general election alone. I truly believe she has more competition from other Democrats than from anyone else. That competition will stop and actually in all likelihood change into support.
Republicans are underestimating The Clinton machine because of their blind illogical hatred like the Bush administration underestimated the Iraq war. There were no WMD, the Clinton bodycount is false, Hillary will win and America will have a great President

You, my friend, have hit that nail right on its head. If the conservatives/Republicans rely on what they insist in believing is the country's dislike of Hillary, they are in big trouble. There isn't a person I know who supports another Democratic candidate who will not vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination, I've asked them and they grudgingly admit she will get their vote. A lot of Independents will do exactly the same. There's a basic "anyone but a Republican" feeling out there in our population right now, which just keeps gaining strength as the Republican scandals keep coming out of Washington on a regular basis.
From what I can gather, they think calling her a socialist (ridiculous isn't it? she's a dyed in the wool capitalist), and bringing up the past accusations they weren't able to prove the first time around is going to doom her, along with this notion they keep repeating that at least 50% of the population won't vote for her. They ignore other poll readings of the population and cling to that notion like it's a life raft. If that's all they've got they better practice saying "Madame President." Underestimating Hillary Clinton will be one of the biggest mistakes the Republican Party has made in a long time, and that's saying a lot.

That bird is not going to fly in 2008: there are too many women out there that want to see long overdue history made. Also, hating someone does not bring voters to the polls--supporting a candidate does. Just look at the last election for food for thought. Hate doesn't equal votes or Kerry would have won by a landslide.

It isnt hating hillary as you like to put it - those with their eyes open and their ears to the ground know why they will not be voting for her (corruption and backstabbing are genreal terms for what she is about ) and there are so many reasons that you could actually write a 600 page book called "hating hillary " listing every shady deal -backstab -murders etc. she has been very close to but never implicated in .

My game plan is to not vote for her. I don't hate her, I just think she would do better as a candidate in a more politically sympathetic country, like Cuba, Venezuela or Nicaragua.

I don't know what debates you've been watching, but the GOP candidates are the only ones with any substance.
Hillary likes throwing around big phrases like "comprehensive immigration reform" and "universal healthcare" without actually describing HOW it is supposed to be done.

Hillary is running, Bush is not. Hating Bush is an exercise in futility. You are right about the Reps. needing to step up their game, but the Dems have a serious problem if Hillary is their nominee.
