I can't decide because a real tree has been shipped on a truck or other vehicle probably for miles and miles, so it's contributing to pollution that way, but fake trees are made in a factory and... well... you know factories aren't good for the Earth. Which one is better? And oh yeah I forgot, you can use a fake tree over, but if you keep buying real trees, it will have to be shipped every year to the place... which is better! And I buy them already cut, so it's not like the tree's been there forever and it was grown there... HELP!

real trees. When a person throws out their fake tree it causes more pollution than buying a real tree, and after you buy a real tree and you are ready to dispose of it, it can be chopped into mulch.
Fake trees are made out of PVC which is really hard to recycle and break down causing chemicals to be released into the air.

The last time my family had a Christmas tree was over 60 years ago, around the same time I learnt there was no Santa. I'm appalled over the incredible waste and personal indulgence associated with Christmas. The only people who benefit are very young children and retailers, but even the latter are suffering now. I'd prefer to give a hundred bucks to the local council Christmas Kids Appeal than fill the house with trees and decorations. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but Christmas and birthdays were never celebrated in our family once the kids understood their "real" meaning. A million kids out there would love to be given a pencil or a bowl of hot soup. They're the ones that concern me. I'll enjoy my Christmas as I always do, I'll just treat it like any other day and think of the people out there who are forced to do the same.

They each have Pros and cons. A real tree, can be good for the envoirment but it only lasts the one year. No only that but they do tend to loose their leaves, and vacuming that up is a real hassle, and can't be good for the enviorment. Fake trees, if looked after can last for many years, and never look old. Though, the idea with fake ones is to keep it all in the one place, because next year putting up a tree without a stand can get kinda difficult. I would go with fake cause they last longer.

I personally think fake trees are better for the environment. Here are my reasons why: You use the tree for many, many years before it needs to be discarded (I've had mine for 5 years so far). When it is time to be discarded, the socially and environmentally conscious people can likely take to to the local recycle center to be disposed of properly in a way that would contribute the least amount of pollution.

I would go fake. yeah it was made in a factory, but I've had mine for 11 years now. So 11 less dead trees being shipped thats a lot of pollution saved for the little bit to make the fake one
