At least they had a real vote on it, I figured he would just say he won either way, seems like a good sign to me, and maybe proof that however bad Chavez is, he may not be as bad as I thought.

I was very surprised that he did not seem to fix that election, but my opinion of him has not changed.

I was really surprised. Like others, I did not think it would be a clean election and he would win. But, unfortunartely, he has time left to go from Plan A to Plan B. Chavez will find some way to make certain he is President for life, and more importantly, he desperately wants control of those central banks. Like Putin in Russia, he'll find some way to stay in control.

I think he rigged it this way on purpose. Then when he does win he can say "Well, nobody argued about the last one!"

Face it; there will be no Venezuela without Chavez as Dictator if he is still alive.

The acid test is going to see how Chavez handles it.

Does he accept the will of the people or not?

It's only a short delay. He's still in power until 2012. That's plenty of time for him to come up with another way to circumvent what's left of their Constitution and become President for Life.

It amazes me that the leftists here in the USA support him in that effort, all the while spewing ridiculous crap about Bush's "plans" to invoke martial law and stop the elections.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, but then I'm an American and not at all concerned with Mr. Chavez.

Then I guess you didn't see the news this morning where he said he'll be proposing the resolution every year he has left in office until it passes?

I did get excited a bit when I saw that the people, at least temporarily, were able to give him a smackdown on the world stage.

I observed it yet did not answer it. the assumption of offering incentives to human beings for tying the form to the candidate sound like a great concept. i ponder whether human beings could leap at it.

Yes, I guess he didn't do as good of a job of suppressing the vote as planned.
