Of course, this can't happen, but if it did, everything not attached would go flying off to the east, parallel to the surface of the Earth. The speed would depend upon your latitude. Only the people at the poles would be safe. You wouldn't go flying off into space because the 1000 mph maximum (at the equator) isn't enough to overcome gravity, which would still be present. If you survived, the resulting six month day and six month night would probably take care of you pretty quick.

What happens to all the earthlings, if Earth stops spinning? Will we be thrown off the Earth's surface, since Earth is spinning at ~1000 mph?

Well, first that will never happen. Second, if it did then it would get really hot on the side closest to the Sun and really cold on the other side. Third, since gravity is not entirely caused by rotation, there would probably be some fluctuation. Finally, it won't matter because we would die if it happened due to the extreme shift in temperature.

you and everything else that is ON the Earth would go shooting across the area at one thousand miles per hour....that includes people, cars, buses, trains, animals, water in the river, lake and oceans, small houses, tops of tall buildings, etc..... not a good way to end.....

please imagine that Ur traveling in a car with the speed meter on its maximum and suddenly brake is applied Wat ll happen especially u have no safety belt......... may be u feel to hard to prevent Ur head to hit Ur front seat........ the tissue box on the back or Ur seat ll fall in Ur foots and many other thing especially u will stop moving...... so is with earth as every thing is moving on the back of it with great speeds if it stops suddenly every thing ll fall ahead in the direction of its motion..... u ll see no change in day and night..... and also the seasons ll be no more there......... if it is st oped in summer soon the earth ll be burning...... if it is winter every thing ll be fro zed soon.........
