I just purchased a new computer, I am trying to install a printer driver, it's not allowing me to because I do not have adminstration rights. How do I give one account the Ad. rights?

Re: First answer: If you don't have admin rights you're not able to set yourself up as admin!

It could be your printer driver doesn't work on Vista. OR:

It could be that you need to run the driver program "as administrator". Right click on the file, go to Properties, Compatibility, and check "run as admin". After closing out with OK, run it again.

If this is a Vista installation, then you might want to try turning off "User Controls". Right click Computer, and choose "Properties". In the lower right corner of the window that opens, click "Security Center. In the "Windows Security Center" window, open the "User Account Control" and turn it off. This should allow you to install the driver.

That's odd. Usually when you get a new computer the first username you create is created as an admin. You'll have to login as an administrator, go to the control panel, user settings, and change your login to an admin login.
