Does anyone know where I can find an '80s BMW at a resonable price? In Maine.

In Maine (or anywhere in New England for that matter), because of the cold winters and extensive use of salt, it's very hard to find an old car (any car) that hasn't been eaten by rust. Especially something from the 80's.

Other than collectors, enthusiasts and restorers (that may post ads on online BMW forums), the usual channels include cars.com, vehix.com, autotrader.com, edmunds.com...etc. You might also want to pick up the BMWCCA monthly magazine (called the "Roundel"), there are ads in the back pages. Also try to connect with the people from your local BMWCCA chapter.

You might also consider buying one from the southern states, where the favorable weather conditions would likely find you a better, less corroded car. But shipping might kill your "reasonable price" requirement...

Those are two really big BMW boards. The E30 (1983-1991) 3 series is everywhere. At least us west coasters see them about every 3 cars. There should be plenty to go around.

For good quality cars, Roundel would be your best bet.

For project cars you want to work on, I would get it from ebay or roadfly.
