no. The average person only uses about 10% of their brain. Even geniuses use only slightly more than that. When you learn something new, you don't LOSE the old info, but you may subconscously(sp??) prefer to use the newer thing (if it is an updated or better way of the old info), but if it was needed , the old way will be there too. if it is something completely different, it all stays there.

I love to learn new things. I think there is room for both.I do think though that in time we begin to forget the little details that don't seem as important or are negative. As an example, elderly often recall the happy times of their childhood or early marriage and yet they forget the more recent happenings. The brain is an interesting thing and I think the more we think upon something, the more it stays in the brain. That's why I try to think upon mostly the good in my life and not focus on the negative. I think it's those stressful worry type of details that we keep in our head that cause us to feel so stressed and have "brain overload".When that happens to me, I just take time to relax and replenish my thinking.

I believe people are just like computers. Nothing is ever really lost unless you get electric shock treatment or have an accident. But we do have RAM and Harddrives. Ram is uncertain as to whether we keep it. We get overloaded and slow down and need to defrag and clean our registries. Running a virus scan for hate and greed is a good place to start too. You have to do things like meditation or just try to clear your mind to let your mind reorganize. Thinking good thoughts helps.
As we get old our circuits go and eventually we are redy for the trash heap. But before we go we should try to take all the good programs we have in our systems and transfer them to the new computers (our kids and grandchildren)
So defrag and clean that registry. Try to delete the viruses that are on your system for better performance.

No, I believe that as we grow older and we learn new things - having new experiences we tend to forget the older memories that aren't as important or exciting. I heard that drugs can affect your brain though and that antibiotics make it easier for you to forget stuff.
Therefore don't worry that you will forget any of your memories by learning new things and in fact you will tend to remember more things by keeping your brain active. (Exercise your brain by learning new things all the time)

The Long term memory store is unlimited so we can never be certain that the information actually leaves your ltm. However your short term memory is like a book shelf and can fit in seven pieces of information give or take two. Therefore if you put another piece of information in your short term memory and it hasn't been learnt then it will be displaced. Hope that answered your question.

No it just pushes over the old and gets a little more crowded .Sometimes it's good to keep some old ideas that have never failed to work.
