of the right-wing pundits would have said if he did win?

Cons. Be honest with yourselves.

GOPer,

He was elected with 60% of the vote in 2006. Like I said, all the private foreign polling companies had him winning with about the same amount.

Go out and read something.

He lost the referendum on the constitution yesterday with about 1 or 2 percentage points.

Cons,

Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the talking heads would be sore losers and start whining about how he stole the election.

You know this is true.

alecs,

If he had won the referendum it would have not made him president for life. It would have allowed to him to be president as long as he kept winning elections.

Well that goes to show that his constituent does not want him to be their president in perpetuity. Lol, to those politician who think they can hood wink their countrymen into submission, this is a wake up call. If he won the referendum, he would have been a new dictator and benevolent leader for life.

First of all, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Despite the fact that Rush is a blowhard and does NOT represent the majority of Republicans like me, are you suggesting Chavez SHOULD have been elected President-for-life? If so, I feel sorry for you that you think putting a power-mad psychopath who is manufactuing AK-47's for a hostile Iranian regime in power for life would benefit the world or his constituents. Unfortunately because of high illiteracy, they don't know that he's trying to be the next Castro. He's dangerous and will eventually drain his country's economy dry.

If he did win, everyone in this country, Rep or Dem, with half-a brain should have said, "It's a sad day for democracy in South America."

How many times are you going to post the same basic thing?

As for this Conservative, I think this will prove to be a hollow victory for the Venezuelan voters. Chavez will find a way to implement his desired agenda without the electorate. How can neo-libs argue against his track record?

Sore losers whining about an election being stolen, that sounds familiar.

Mega dittos to the Venezuelan people.

A defeat is a defeat...Limbaugh, et al, will be quite rightfully happy. Anything that keeps back the rising tide of socialism is a good thing.

We would say what would be obvious that Venezuela had become a dictatorship.

I am thankful that the citizens did not give him the power he wanted. As long as the citizens retain their power there is hope.
