I'm with you on the mixed feelings thing. I liked some of the revisions, I found the psychic lion intersting and I enjoyed the story of the "tin man", but the convict with the missing brain seems awfully intelligent still. Honestly the biggest let down for me was the actress playing DG. I have seen her before and was looking forward to her performance which was fine I guess, but the fact that they kept forcing the idea that DG was only 20 and the actress is obviously not bothered me. I thought the dialogue could have been "younger" which might have helped. Honestly the older sister looked younger than she did.
I love Zooey as an actress but having her do all her scenes wide eyed like she's full of wonder didn't make up for the fact she was born in 1980.
I totally agree about the o z thing it was cheezy and it did remind me of the o c.
I also thought some of the effects weren't very special. Having her tatoos come alive could have been done better.

usually when sci fi tries this, they totally miss on it.....see the Flash Gordon series, but i thought it was pretty good, aside from a few scenes with cheesy sci fi special effects. I love Zoey Dashnel, but not really in this role, i agree that it should have been some one younger. You have to kind of throw out all the stuff about the old Wizard of Oz, and not compare the two. The whole O.Z. thing reminded me of the The O.C., everytime they said it, but i like the Tinman, i think that is a cool spin, it might be cool to have a show about the Tinman

I liked it, and I plan on watching the rest. The similarities between it and the original are far and few between however. And I hate the actress for DG.

I have mixed feelings too. I liked it, unfortunately, I grew up watching The Wizard of Oz, and sometimes it was a little hard to reconcile the two. I'll probably try to watch, but Heroes comes on tonight, and that one I don't miss.

I didn't watch it... sometimes it's ok to just have one version, and in this case, it's been done at least 3 times and it's never been as good. (Remember the Diana Ross fiasco, The Wiz?)
The only child classic remake that really went above and beyond and did a great job was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

yes, I liked it. It is different but it is a re-imagining not a remake. I will be watching it tonight and tomorrow.
