nah, benji, they just ran out of writing tools and then got bored!
there'll be a very rare position of the stars on the 21st, but why won't you look at it as a new step, a rebirth, a new beginning?
"According to many prophecies something important is about to happen in 2012.
In 2012 the center of the Galaxy is at 0 degree of the Western zodiacal sign Capricorn. 0 degree Capricorn is the point of the zodiac where the Sun is during the December solstice.
At December 21, 11.12 GMT during the December solstice the Sun is at the exact center of the Galaxy. According to the Mayas the center of the Galaxy is the cosmic womb: the place of dead, transformation, regeneration and rebirth. This moment shows the end of their calendar."

It is 12/21/12, not 9/23/12 that a Mayan calendar cycle ends. No more happens then than happened on 1/1/00, 1/1/01 or at any other cycle's end. Have you forgotten Y2K so soon? There have been hundreds of Doomsday predictions, and they are all nonsense. Who started this silly stuff about Mayan calendars anyhow? Why would you believe Mayans were so wise?

All those issues approximately 2012 is with the help of the fact the Mayan calendar (easily an overlapping device of three calendars) is composed of an end at that factor. on a similar time as the Maya have been very progressed in many different aspects, i think of that in the event that they have been so adept at prediction they could in all probability have fared greater helpful against the spanish.

I don't really understand where all the fear is coming from. The Mayans Calendar, which is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era on December 21st, 2012. The year 2012 marks the end of the "Great Cycle." When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles.

People have been predicting the end of the world since time began. Why is this group correct when everyone else was obviously wrong?
You didn't even get their date right. It's Dec 21, 2012.

So is this going to be like the same thing as Y2K? Because look how THAT turned out...My friends had been stockpiling water and rice and salt, stuff like that. A few had even bought gasmasks. And for what? Nothing happened on Y2K. Humanity is eventually going to run itself into the ground but do we need a specific date?

I find it hard to believe the Mayan prediction of the ending on the 21/12/2012, seeing as they could not even predict something as major as their own downfall.

Well, I have to say Berries that the world is in a demise as we speak but a specific date I wouldn't say September 13th 2012 but there are major issues that are occurring that will lead to the human Apocalypse.

I think people just assume these things, nobody knows when the world is going to end. Just chill out and live your life to the fullest.
