Discovery of archival documents that completely changed the course of a history I am doing about European naval affairs 200 years ago. Turned the ENTIRE treatment upside down, and was (for me) REALLY exciting. This is going to change all prior historians' interpretations of the related events and alter other treatments of that time in history.
Just a happy, happy accident!
Of course, this means I have to go back and entirely re-write everything already done, so months of work is out the door. But that's why there are surprises!

On Oct 10th a lady in Ohio gave me a $12,000 silver cocker spaniel. She was born in Brazil, became champion, sold to the Ohio lady, became US champion, and now at 15 months belongs to me. Just as a pet. I love her so much as my last one died last Oct. 16. I was shocked and am so grateful to her. She's fixed now and valueless, except to me. She is priceless!!

The sudden change in the weather. It was hot and humid and suddenly, later in the day, it was raining heavily for several hours. (It was like two days, one hot and one rainy and it sure felt that way despite it being the same day.)
