Until 62 I was quite healthy and work a physical job. But at 62 I developed autoimmune disorder and now stay uncomfortable or in pain daily.

No matter how hard I work to stay healthy, another 20 years of this just seems exhausting. Does anyone else feel this way or have any suggestions to improve my outlook?

Thank you for all responses.

I know I sound depressed but I really am not I am just tired of being tired and not feeling well. I was severely depessed for 7 years and learned I have hypothyroidism and am on the pills which totally fixed the depression. They are quite amazing.

I am on pain meds. But a pain management Doctor does sound like a good Idea. I do think I will give it a try.

Mary Ann, I can't even begin to explain how worn out... I've read all the answers and agree with most. Some folks are luckier than others... It sounds as if you have all the magical people working with you already! The only other thing I could advise is meditation... there are some wonderful tapes out there that will help if you have never tried this. It will help you feel a little refreshed and somewhat rested. I know getting real sleep at these times is almost impossible. The cycle that is being mentioned includes sleep deprivation. I have a hard time too, you are not alone!

Health problems wear you down and take away the joy of living. I would encourage you to find a pain management treatment center in your vicinity. My sister-in-law was in your condition and so depressed. She started participating in the pain management therapy a few months ago and her spirits and health are much improved. She does mild exercise, has a counselor to talk to, sees a doctor who is an expert in pain management and talks to other patients who share the same type of problems. She is doing so well! I'm so happy for her and her husband. Their life had become so sad and difficult. She still has many health problems but has now found a way to deal with everything and enjoy life.

Talk to your doctor about a reference for a trusted pain management therapy clinic near you. Good luck dear one!

Yes, there are days when just getting out of bed in the morning are a chore. I try to focus on the positives of my life. Can you speak to your doctor about how you are feeling. My doctor has changed some of my medications and it has made a world of difference. I hope you the best and hang it there.

I'm sorry you feel so bad. I don't know if you believe in alternative medicine, but maybe you should go to a Chiropractor, that is a naturalist. They will check you over, and sometimes can give you natural ingredients, that don't cause as much damage to your body.

I am only 50+ and I feel aches and pains every day but I am not worn out yet. Not going down without a fight either.

Being 62 myself I can sympathize with you.
Life throws all kinds of good & bad & just when you think you are in for a "good" run, the bottom drops out. Nothing like getting your hopes up then crash. Again!!!

Hey Folks.....Knock it off.

It could always be worse. Count your blessings. The Christ Child is coming.

Try a little bit of thinking positive. I refuse to give in. They will have to drag me away kicking and screaming.

Dead is for eternity....I for one am not ready, no matter what!

Autoimmune diseases are hard to deal with. I didn't begin to get mine under control until I made some lifestyle changes to cut down on stress.

I would talk with your doctor and see if he can add an antidepressent to the pain cocktail. It is like a cycle, pain leads to depression which increases pain and sleeplessness
