Are they "good"? yes of course they are. look at their record. Are they "the best"? very doubtful. The teams with the best records in baseball last year (Cleveland and Boston) did it with pitching. The Yankees have some young pitchers with potential, but they really haven't delivered anything yet.
so good? yes. the best? Maybe after the Sox, Indians, Angels, Tigers (in the AL).
Obviously, Santana would make them better, but enough to move them to the top of the heap? Maybe.

The Yankees are one of the best teams on paper but they lack the pitching and they are very overrated, but I would have to say all and all, the Yankees are good.

Yes the Yankees are good but not as great as in the past but can you name any other team with a current consectutive 13 year winning season streak. I betcha can't. Well maybe the Braves. Yankees will always field a good team each year.

The yankees have won more championships (26) then any other baseball team alive. Yankees are that good.

They look good on paper...the have looked really good on paper the last few seasons but they can not get it done in the post season.....If they sign Santana they will have added a something to the team they have not had in a long time a GREAT STARTING PITCHER!!! Is he the answer?can he deliver the Yankees a World Series Title? Will he be able to carry this team? The answer my friend is blowing in the wind the answer is blowing in the wind!!!

Even though I'm a tribe fan, I can say the yankees are a great team on paper.
But their pitching lacks and they don't seem to GEL as a team.
Hopefully the tribe can slap them around the yard when it matters again like this year, in 2008 :)

I will answer your question the same way the networks broadcast baseball games today. -------------------------------------- well keith, are the yankees good ? yes brian, they are, in fact they could be 15 percent better this year then last year, and speaking of 15 percent, you could save 15 percent or more on your car insurance by switching to gieco. now back to the yankees, they are good, yes and they have a great bullpen this year, oh and speaking of the bullpen, when the torre calls his bullpen, he only uses at & t to do it, is so reliable, now back to the yanks.

depends on what you mean by good, most people think good means they will have a successful (over .500) season, if thats what you mean, then no, if good means they will finish better than the rays, then probably yes
