It's a cute phrase but it leads to trouble.

No....honesty is not always the best policy. It helps to be honest in most situations, and I really so believe that you generally should tell the truth, but sometimes you should maybe tell a little white lie for the sake of others feelings.

I used to think it was but recently I am having my doubts. I am always honest but realize that others are not. For me, honesty will always be the best policy but I will respect the fact that others may not have the same mind set.

Given three choices.
1. Truth
2. Silence
3. Lie

I would never chose number three. You gain nothing by it. Number two is sometimes the best choice to avoid hurting someone. Number one is my preference, but I have caused some hurt and received some hurt that way. The pain was short-term and the reward for that policy, was worth it in the end.

Well, I think honesty is the best policy. Look, sometimes if you lie, all it is going to do is get you in even more trouble. And sometimes it doesn't but teachers and parents teach you to be "truthful" so... it's YOUR choice.

Well that is a mutual question I'd say it mostly depends on the situation i don't lie about big things that will come back an bite you in the a** but in smaller situations lien might not do as much harm but either way it comes with a consequence

Yes, honesty is always the best policy, unless you are an exceptionally good liar.

Honesty is always the best way to go. If you believe in karma then you know this. I would rather someone be upset with me for telling the truth than mad at me for lieing. It is also about trust. If you lie then no one can trust you, and you want to be trusted don't you.

That entirely depends upon the situation. The truth is that a little white lie is probably more benificial in more situations than not.

No it isn't - sometimes a little white lie is acceptable and prudent. Also, leaving out a detail of 2 isn't a lie when someone asks you a question you don't want to answer.
