I had a similar experience, although not for so long. I have always been on for 7 days, then this year I knew something was wrong when I lasted 15 days and it was so heavy that I changed my towel every 20 minutes!

I finally found out that I had too much oestrogen building up around the womb, so I had a DNC and now my periods are on for 4 days very light!

As is said here, please have yourself seen to, because you might also be in danger of being anaemic.

You must go check with your doctor because this may be caused by a hormonal imbalance or Fibroids. I would see the doctor right away you not only will feel weak but it is uncomfortable to be going through this so long. I personal have been through years of this sort of problem and taking medication to stop the bleeding and the last resort after years of suffering with this problem was surgery.

Nature's Sunshine Products...the Menstrual Reg. I just ended a 5 week period yesterday after 3 days of taking 3 of the pills every two hours. They sell them online. I don't know if the pills actually helped but since I took em I've seen results.

Best wishes!

Please go see a Dr. the same thing happened to me I was about 16 years old I was scared to tell my mom because I was sexually active. The clinic wouldn't see me and recommend that I go to the emergency room,so I had to tell my mom but I had lost so much blood that I became very week and the doctors said that If I had not come when I did I would have died. My hormones were unbalanced, I was anemic and they put me on some birth control pills and I had to eat healthy foods.

Go to a doctor. That would drive me crazy I can't stand having it for 5 or 6 days. Just don't stress, go to a doctor and see what the problem is.

Stop scarying her everyone.

I have had it a couple of times and it due to stress or/and or feeling low.

Yeah it could be something else more sinister, but stress is the likely cause.

The dotor can give you tablets to stop the bleeding. Don't let them fob you off, with "give it time". It might have a natural cause, but there are still things they can do to stop it. You have suffered enough.

I got that a few years back. Doc explained that Hormones are imbalanced that causes that. Might be genetic or that your body is weak or due to stress. You have to go to a gyne and ask for some pills to balance your hormones up. It'll be something like mild contraceptive pills actually. Go quick before you start getting anemic (dizzy due to blood loss) and faint/vomit everywhere.

I am not sure how old you are...but there are a couple of reasons..

1. if you are in your middle years..... you may be in pre-menopause...it will eventually stop....then you will have irregular periods after that.

2. if you are younger, you may have uterine fibroids that are irritating you inside. Fibroids are caused by high estrogen levels....these will shrink once menopause is past.

3. maybe a combo of both
