Aside from the basic enjoyment of the Hobby ??
1) The pleasure of displaying your collection.
2) The amazing amount of esoteric knowledge you can learn in researching your collection, whether it's coins, stamps, models, or NASCAR collector plates.
3) The possible value of the collection later. Though THIS is one of the RARE benefits... MOST collections are NOT greatly increasing in value. You have to spend ALOT to obtain valuable items... either money or TIME.
