CDs can store about 700MB depending on the brand. it is usually mentioned on the CD itself.
Using DVDs would be more economical assuming you have a DVD writer. DVDs can store 4.7GB and DVD9s (double layer) can store 8.5GB.
12.6GB = 18CDs or 3 DVDs or 2 DVD9

This is where those stupid math problems at school come in useful.
12.6GB data stored on 650MB CDs. How many CDs do I need?
Of course the answer depends on how large your files are. If they are 400MB each, you're not gonna get more than one per CD. But if it's a bunch of music files @ 4MB each your math will be close enough.
Open Windows calc (Windows+R, type 'calc') then do the following:
12600 / 650 =

A CD holds a little more than 1/2 a gig. (Because files vary in size, you will never get all 650mb of a CD full. So the 1/2 gig a CD is a realistic estimate.)
So you would need about 27 CDs to hold that much data.
If you were to use DVDs instad, you would get everything on 3 of them.
