When visiting America recently I went to an art exhibition called 'bodies'. It was designed to let the educated and un-educated alike learn about the human body, but was set up in such a way that it was almost art.
I found the aborted feotus' at different stages quite shocking, as well as the fact that these were real bodies that had been dedicated to science. I couldn't believe I was looking at a skinless body that was at one stage alive, and now they're on show to everyone.
I do know what you mean though. I think everyone is becoming less easy to shock, and artists are going out of their way to try and create something shocking.

Hi,

I suppose that I have reached a point in life whereby nothing really shocks me anymore

What I do find disturbing, though, is those that simply set out to try and shock others through art.
It is largely just not "art"

A silly example - My youngest son was amused that a bronze statue had a prodominant "willy".
It would of been more suprising if it had been left off.

The "Myra Hindley" is in my opinion just the product of a sad and disturbed mind

The shock factor is part of the whole PR machine, and it's sad really.

But there are many artists out there who make beautiful paintings and other items, so you don't have to think of all art as 'shock' art. There's something for everyone.

what is viewed in a piece of painting, does not shock me at all, its art, its supposed to shock, excite, make us sad, happy, myra hindley was a evil women, in that art work it was her eyes that made her famous that stare, looking into hell, which i hope she has gone there, to what she did to those poor children, one child still has not been found, and that mother cannot mourn or go to a grave to lay flowers, dreadful eh, its that fact that shocks me much more than art pictures.

The only thing that shocks me is when someone produces something of some value and validity. That rarely seems to happen, and therefore when it does, it's pretty shocking.
