She told me last week. She has been doing this for a month. How long before her period will stop? shes a nice girl and all i want to do is help her before she does any damage. She is about 170 or so I am not sure shes kind of big though. She told me she lost almost 20 pounds in a month. she got her period last month will she get it this month too? I ask this because i did some reading and people who are underweight before becoming bullemic usually lose their periods but people who are already overweight takes a while? I dont know how to go about helping her. I am going to talk to her mom today is she doesnt. help please?

You stop getting your period when you get under weight/bodyfat percentage is under 10%.
But this is a dangerous route to go. It will damage her teeth, and could possibly have a heart attack or stroke from throwing up so much. And many other issues. She is eating lots of unhealthy food to escape a underlying root problem. And feels guilty so she throws it up. It gets addicteive. So i would seek help asap. But be careful, if you tell, she might get defensive and shut you out. I used to be bullimic but now i am healthy and strong. She can talk to me if she needs to.

20 pounds a month, my goodness, this is not good, this is DANGEROUS. Your friend needs help with this eating disorder, you must break a confidence and tell her family. She needs a support group, and help with educating herself about food and how best she can use it to stay healthy and lose weight safely.

Losing that much weight in such a short time has serious consequences for the internal organs, including the heart. Also, her skin with sag and she will develop stretch marks, and she doesn't want that ....

If she misses a period due to this, it's not the end of the world. Once she gets back on track and learns how to eat properly and safely, all that will sort itself out.
