If it's a NEW xbox 360, you don't have to worry about it. Microsoft recalled some earlier models that had this problem, and they corrected the problem.

Check the manufacturing date on the 360. Its from 2006, then yes you will get the red rings. We've had to have Microsoft send us FOUR replacement Xboxs. We finally gave up and bought a new one from the store (with a manufacturing date in 07). But - the 360 has a three year warranty now, so you should call 18004myxbox and register your 360 with them. That way if you do get the red rings, you can send it to them and they will repair it. Good luck, I've had nothing but headaches from Microsoft because of the 360...

I bought my first xbox 360 in January 2007. I had the red ring of death 3 months later. I sent it back to Microsoft and 4 weeks later had another in my hands. I haven't had no problems with this one, it runs quiet and does not get hot on us. I have 3 kids who play on it for a long time, and myself and my boyfriend play it all day and have no problems with it getting hot. Just make sure that it doesn't get alot of heat around it. If you have a newer 360 (after the recalls) you should be fine. Enjoy the best next gen. console, it rocks!!!

if you recently just bought one it's fine, and it'll best if it's not just the pro ed, ie. elite ed etc but as trying to avoid it, just make sure you don't play near the sun or otherwise anywhere hot as that is the only reason that causes the ROD, yup it's heat, avoid it and it'll be fine
