it depend on your nature of expenditure.
for a middle class tourist perday travelling expenses will be near about 1200-1500 day.
for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, coffe etc you have to spend 200 rs perday.
for accomadation any where it will be 300-500 perday in medium budget hotel in big city and 250-400 in small and medium towns.
for travelling in train and bus it wont be more then 250-300 perday in sleeper class of train and ordinary government bus.

Please dont do that.
1 Accomodation for a foreginer in a safe hotel will cost you minimum Rs1500/day
2 The food & water wont be a sync for a few days so u will have to keep apart Rs 300/day
3 Please take a taxi for short distances to avoid getting lost(minimum Rs 150 for 25 Km).
4 Train travel by A/c coaches or atleast reserved compartments is ideal.
5 If you are travelling by yourself please make a few friend before you arrive in India.

Inexpensive accommodation (not cheap) in cities like,Chennai,Mumbai,New Delhi & Kolkatta may cost you
not less than Rs.1000/- per day for a non-ac room, single
occupany.
You can manage your travel expenses within a few thousand of rupees, If you travel by trains , 2nd class (non-ac) ,and by buses.(Government buses)
You have to consider the expenses you have to meet with
in respect of accomodation & food.
You can choose a few places in India and organise your itinerary. Check fares, hotel tariff etc., in advance

It depends on which part of India you are visiting. If the travel is included in your budget, I am sure Rs. 30,000 is not enough. If your accommodation is excluded in this budget, Rs. 30,000 is more then enough in anywhere in India for a month.

it can be done on 3000 rupees for the month, if you're really good at it. for 30,000 you can live like a prince.
those people spending 1000 for a room or even 250 are crazy! even in the cities you can get a good room for less than that.

that's the minimum, i might say, and doubtless no longer sufficient time to flow to all those places. bear in mind that, as an occasion, kolkatta and goa are hundreds of miles aside, and till you're flying everywhere, that's going to day 18-20 hours on a practice, purely for that one holiday. as you have it, you will spend greater time on the practice than off it, virtually. i might say to slender it down. south or north, east or west. if it is your first time there, do the delhi-agra-jaipur triangle, flow greater into the desolate tract in case you like jaipur. then flow north, to himachal pradesh interior the mountains, for dharamsala and manali. i comprehend they do no longer seem to be on your record, yet nevertheless, the himalaya are remarkable. or head south; fly into mumbai and head down the coast (do no longer omit hampi alongside the way), down into goa, and greater down into kerala. or your third determination could be chennai or kolkata to rishikesh, varanasi, gaya, those inland cities. that's greater do-able. and that i might virtually say to spend much greater time interior the smaller places. cities are cities, the actual charm of india are the smaller cities.
